- Chen Weixing partners with Yang Jun, co-founder of Meituan, to launch Blockchain-Based Taxi App.
- Though both partners did not reveal the schedule of the project.
China: According to a report from China Money Network on Monday 28th May, the founder of Kuaidi Dache – a Chinese ride-hailing company, Chen Weixing, in partnership with Yang Jun is making plans to launch a blockchain-based ride-hailing app. Yang Jun is a co-founder of Meituan.
According to Weixing, the app will offer a number of lifestyle services, which include ride-hailing and deliveries. Yang said at the 2018 China International Big Data Industry Expo:
“I’ve been asking myself what’s the value of the blockchain. My definition is to see whether and where people can actually use it. With the use of blockchain, we can build a set of economic systems different from the previous ones…We can direct traffic from the Internet and add on different services to meet users’ needs.”
Weixing also said at the event that:
“Ride hailing is the first time blockchain will be tested on a social application on mass scale.”
However, both Chen Weixing and Yang did not disclose any detail as regards the project’s schedule. Kuaidi Dache, which is currently part of Didi Chuxing, joined with Didi Dache in 2016.
Cryptona.co reported earlier this month that China announced it will begin publishing a monthly independent analysis of digital currencies and blockchain projects. The report revealed that in 2017, the domestic blockchain industry grew “exponentially” with 178 new blockchain startups in operation.
