- Ripple to host a VIP gathering event in New York City.
- Snoop Dogg has been invited to promote Ripple at the event.
Ripple Labs Inc: Ripple Labs Inc announced on Tuesday 24th April that it will host a VIP gathering in New York City on May 15, called “XRP Community Night,” and had invited the hip-hop artiste Snoop Dog to perform for the day. Ripple stated that the event is “invite-only,” however it will run two Twitter contests – “Twitter Trivia” and “Make the Meme,” in which prospective participants can compete for ten tickets, the contests will be run on 26th April and 2nd May respectively.
According to Ripple Labs Inc, the “XRP Community Night” is to show appreciations to those who have been helping the company in developing the XRP Ledger and xRapid platform, and also those who are “spreading the good word about Ripple’s many benefits.”
The announcement of this “special night” event has predictably divided the social media into fans and skeptics, however, a Twitter user showed a good sense of indifference:

This isn’t like the first showbiz’s foray into the cryptocurrency world, with singer Lionel Richie recently appearing in a Super Bowl television ad promoting Bitcoin Futures, Michael Owen – former Liverpool soccer star – launching his own token, actor Steven Seagal endorsing Bitcoiin ICO last month, and heiress and reality TV star Paris Hilton endorsing LydianCoin ICO last year.
Earlier this month, the US SEC took downtown a high-profile ICO scam, which was backed by DJ Khaled and the boxing champion Floyd Mayweather. Last Nov., the US SEC issued warnings that ICO endorsement by celebrities could be illegal in certain cases.
